“The Internet Archive is home to millions of audio recordings, ranging from live music to classic audiobooks. Whether you’re hoping to revisit old favorites, find hidden gems, or just put something on in the background, we’ve got you covered. Here’s a closer look at some of our top audio collections!

Live Concerts
In the mood for some music? The Live Music Archive contains thousands of concert recordings for hundreds of artists. By far, our most popular collection is almost 30 years’ worth of Grateful Dead concerts, with more than 15,000 recordings of their psychedelic performances and memorable instrumental jams. But if you’re into other bands, we also have live concerts from Smashing Pumpkins, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Death Cab for Cutie, and more—take a look and see if any of your favorite artists are in here!

Audiobooks
Librivox is a collaborative volunteer project that turns public domain texts into free audiobooks, which are then hosted on the Internet Archive. If you’re looking for great readings of classics like Treasure Island, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, or The Call of the Wild, this is the place to be!

Old-Time Radio
Even if you’ve never listened to an old-time radio show, you’re probably familiar with some of the pop-culture touchstones the medium spawned. From Dragnet to Gunsmoke to The Adventures of Superman to My Favorite Husband (which was later adapted into the TV show I Love Lucy), the Internet Archive is full of classic shows for radio fans to enjoy.

Records
For decades, vinyl records were the dominant storage medium for every type of audio recording, making them an integral part of our culture for generations. The Internet Archive contains thousands of vintage 78 RPMs and LP recordings, preserving them for new audiences of scholars, researchers, and music lovers around the world. They span musical genres from classical to country to rock to jazz, as well as more obscure recordings like this album of music for baton twirlers or this record of radio’s all-time greatest bloopers. Not sure where to start? This Twitter bot recommends a new album every hour!

The Internet Archive Audio Archive has millions of other files to explore, with choices ranging from podcasts to news radio—even old tapes from NASA missions. Happy browsing, and enjoy the archive!”
